Are Ferrari Cheating?

Ferrari Cheating

The Ferrari SF71H continues to raise suspicions over cheating.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that, without naming a team specifically, the FIA has now banned teams from topping up oil during qualifying.

There are rumours the SF71H Ferrari engine may have taken a big step forward because of some clever trickery in oil consumption area.

“The FIA examined the Ferrari in China and looked at drawings of the entire oil system,” Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reports.

Although that area of the car was found to be legal new suspicion has been raised by Red Bull. Auto Motor und Sport said that Red Bull are alleging that the shape of 2018 Ferrari mirrors does not comply with the regulations.

Also after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes had their doubts about the design of Ferrari’s 2018 battery cells. They could produce more than the allowed 4 megajoules.

“The topic could occupy formula one in the coming weeks,” said correspondent Michael Schmidt.

And to top off the cheating allegations, there is also claims that the Scuderia are using the turbocharger to produce gas that then blows the rear wing.

“One possibility is that former Ferrari engine boss Lorenzo Sassi, who has been working for Mercedes since April, has been talking,” Schmidt added.

Marchionne Encouraged With F1’s Plans – Quit Threat Still Looms

  1. It figures that RBR would be the crybabies whining over Ferrari’s pace this year. Bear in mind that this is a team that doesn’t have enough control over their drivers to keep them from punting each other off of the track regularly. If the SF71Hs mirrors are found to be illegal, Ferrari will change them I’m sure. The real problem is that Ferrari have built a superb engine this year (last year’s wasn’t any slouch either). I might remind Horner and Marko that this is the forte of Maranello so it shouldn’t be a stretch to believe that they are not capable of it. Meanwhile RBR sticks with the sometimes reliable-sometimes not Renault engine while groaning and moaning about it. RBR and others need to quit crying about Ferrari’s resurgence this year and focus that energy on trying to catch up. And they really need to reel in their boy-king Verstappen before he kills someone. Maybe the guy is going to be a champion some day…but that day isn’t today.

  2. The FIA found the car to be in compliance with FIA rules so this article is doing nothing but rumor mongering.

  3. “Luigi, these critics are becoming a ‘problem’, Capiche?”

“Yes, Mr Marchionne. I’ll get the shovel. And the cement.”

  4. Such nature of curious of humans.

    When somebody successful, they doubt.

When somebody failing, “oh serve them right”.

    Such a selfish thinking huh?
