Alonso Has Given The Thumbs Up
Fernando Alonso has said that McLaren’s tweaks to improve the car’s top speed worked.

Alonso said: “I think we tested already a couple of things today. They were on the positive side. “I think we picked up a little bit of extra speed compared with the previous races so I’m quite happy with those changes. “It didn’t compromise the corners for the slow speed sectors so more things to come. “I know it’s going to be one of our weaknesses this weekend but hopefully less than other races”.
Speaking about the Baku GP Alonso said:
“Here is a quite a difficult grand prix for us in the past years,”
“We had some limitations on the power side.

“It seems this year we still have quite a slow car on the straights but hopefully here we can resolve that.
“We have a different philosophy, a different test, to do on Friday to gain some extra speed and hopefully we can reduce that deficit.
“We’ve not been in Q3 so far this year and I think it’s going to be difficult again, but hopefully we are a little bit closer.”
In FP2 Alonso finished sixth with a time of 1:43.700, just behind the four-time world champion Lewis Hamilton .
