FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPION HONORED IN PARIS

The award for all Formula 1 world champions was missing the biggest champion ever. But they all thought very much of him!

Monday evening, the automotive world federation FIA founded its “Hall of Fame” in Paris. All 33 Formula 1 world champions since 1950 were admitted to the Hall of Fame at the beginning.

Among others Sebastian Vettel (30 / four titles) and Nico Rosberg (32 / world champion 2016). Unfortunately, record world champion Michael Schumacher (48) was missing after his heavy skiing accident in December 2013.

The seven-time champ is still in rehab. Manager Sabine Kehm accepted the award for him.

Fia president Jean Todt (71) found touching words for the absence of Formula 1 legend Schumi.

The Frenchman, five times world champion with Schumacher at Ferrari from 1999 to 2004: “I would have liked to see him here tonight. Michael continues to fight! ”

Kehm said, “We all know Michael should be here himself, and I’m very sure he would love to be here. He always had the utmost respect for everyone here and would feel very honored. ”

And further: “What made Michael so special and so successful was his love and passion for the sport, which he shares with everyone in this room.”

Todt was pleased about the founding of the new Hall of Fame: “It was time! It was clear to us to start with the Formula 1 champions. ”

Nine world champions picked up their honor themselves.

In addition to Vettel and Rosberg Fernando Alonso, Alain Prost, Jacques Villeneuve, Damon Hill, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti.

Rosberg was pleased: “Wow, this evening was such a great honor for me. Thank you Mr President Jean Todt. ”
